So we’re off and of course it has gone perfectly. Got up, ate a nice breakfast, car had gas, pulled away on time and the cat did not howl, so Laura and I sang camp songs & hymns all day, while I updated or texted people with amusing antidotes.Yes, but this is my life so here is how it really went!1. Only minor grumpiness as we continued to pack more crap on Pat’s truck. I climbed up the ladder to load the kayak and then fell off the ladder. Yes, it was scary and sort of in slow motion as I flailed at everything. The ‘good’ part was Pat tried to ‘catch me’ or break the fall, so there were no trips to the ER. This is one time when petite would not have been overrated. I ache and Pat’s new hip is sore.2. Of course we needed gas and because of some dumb freeway off ramp closing it took 20 minutes just to get out of La Crescenta!3. The Cat only howled a little4. My darn phone won’t work, so I can only text one word at a time! No amusing antidotes and I can hardly respond to anyone.5. Laura has a cold and has been in good spirits but sleeping lots (so I still sing to myself)6. We broke down in Pollard flats. Which is actually a good thing, if you have to break down. No address, just Pollard flats. It is an old gas station/store/diner and people couldn’t be nicer… so at least we were there (in between Redding and Shasta City) near the top of the mountain and nothing else anywhere. The Auto club would only tow us 5 miles on our package (note to self, get this changed), so the tow truck driver wanted cash for the extra miles. Pollard Flats has an ATM, but it ran out of money…..So… we are now back in Redding, CA in a warm, clean hotel, it is 11pm and we know it could be worse, Laura is checking out the breakfast that comes with the hotel. I hope they fix the car easily tomorrow and just wait until the mechanics find out there is a cat in a cage inside it….feel free to keep us in your prayers…Ellen, Laura and the damn Cat

Wonderful blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any recommendations? Appreciate it!
Word press is great, but if you want to make a lot of creative control, I would go with a paid option like Thesis. Good luck!
This all provided you with such good blog material. 🙂
I get a call from Ellen “car doing very strange things & won’t start”. Can you be more specific l ask, “every light is flashing, oh no wait a minute, they all went out”. I try my best to diagnose the problem on the Internet , no luck. When you enter a problem the chat room needs to know which dummy light is on, if all the lights are out they assume it is fixed! I did manage to find the Toyota dealer in Redding so at least the tow truck driver knew where to take the car.
