We were late for church today…not really, really late, but we were late. It is calving season and as the winter weather has been mild, Our Friend the Farmer’s Cow’s are dropping calves left and right and so far without me watching! These girls are way ahead of schedule!
I went by yesterday and found a little calf and Momma resting in the field.
So this morning, we did the ‘unthinkable’, we left for church early, so we could swing by and check on the cows. I spotted a girl who looked to me to be in labor.
“Over there, I instructed my driver (My Loving Spouse). Go slower, don’t scare her off. See how her tail is up? I think she is in labor.”
“Are you sure she isn’t just pooping?”
“No, I think this one is for real…look a hoof….we’re going to be late for church…”
It is easy for me to say, as I am not the one pushing her out, but the little one was born ‘easily’ and quickly. The mom clamored up to lick her calf and in a matter of moments we could see an ear wiggling and a head bobbing…and as we drove off the little calf was already struggling to stand.
Now we were ‘technically’ late for ‘inside’ church, but we were watching one of God’s greatest miracles and right on time for his ‘outside’ church.
Must be why they call it “God’s country”.
Exactly!
LOVE.
Love it! 🙂
