The Year of the Egg

Happy New Year!

With respect to The Teen, (who loves all things Chinese), I am dubbing this “The Year of the Egg”.  We’ve been feeding these hens, (the Luciles and the two  Lucys) ‘laying meal’ for months now, and they haven’t been laying anything… until Sunday.  After church on a whim, I checked the nesting boxes and found our first egg!  It was sort of exciting.  It was also sort of small, but My Loving Spouse told us the first ones would be.

Encouraged that this was now the beginning of a long egg laying season, I checked the nesting boxes again the next morning to find not one, but two eggs!  This clinched it, our hens are ‘normal’ or as The Teen said, “Our chickens were not defective!”

In three days, we now have 7 eggs, almost a whole egg carton!

What a great way to start the new year!

Our chickens are settled in and producing, it seems like a good sign for Glory Farm.

I am looking forward to sharing our egg abundance.

I wish you all an abundant and blessed New Year.
