Quilting Blocks

Quilts are built by blocks.

A bit like life…quilt block

Blocks of what we do…

Who we are

Who we do life with…

A bit of our history…

sewing heirlooms

Our strengths…

…and our not so strengths…

…those times we tend to come unraveled…

or need to be ‘unsewn’…seam ripper

..the gift of second chances…

I still find it astounding that I sew/quilt…

with passion…even more astounding

I don’t use patterns, because I don’t really sew so a picture might be my guide…

Like in life, I make a lot of mistakes…blocks3I have to stop…

Figure out where I am going…

It is hard…

The fabric does not always co-operate…

I pray as I fill in the blocks…

Lord, help me.

Lord, help me to be…blocks2

..the wife my husband needs me to be…

Lord, help me to be the mother my children need me to be..

Lord, help me to be the Grandmother my Grandson needs me to be..

Lord, help me to be the sibling my brothers and sisters need me to be..

Lord, help me to be the neighbor, the friend…I need to be…

Then I start to begin to feel…just a little bit more on track…

…as my focus improves…

blocks…I cannot do it alone…

I receive loving, laughing friendship…

the encouragement to keep going…

…and I am blessed.senior quilt

Beautiful quilt and a beautiful analogy for life and quilts. When sewing goes right, I find it reflective and therapeutic. But when the seam ripper comes out…. ahhhhh like you say, we all make mistakes and although it’s frustrating, it’s also a chance to reflect.

I love your prayer, Ellen. We can’t do it without Him. Amen.

Love the pictures of the quilt coming together in steps. The blue fabric border sure brings it to completion. Beautiful!
